Stewart gets crafty

Yes, that's Stewart, unshaven, cap on backwards, watching football and making a fleece blanket. Even Pumpkin is agog (or trying to figure out if she can sit on the blanket while Stewart is working on it).  When I was pregnant with Matthew, one of my colleagues from Orchard Plaza, made him a fleece blanket with a gecko print. Once Matthew moved into his big boy bed, "the geckos" became a big part of his routine and to this day he doesn't like a top sheet because he wants to sleep under his geckos. The geckos have been a big enough deal that Stewart decided that Owen should have a fleece blanket of his own and went off to Joann's Fabrics to get himself the necessary supplies. The sales people were a little taken aback and made several attempts to steer him in various directions. He was having none of it, having figured out how the geckos were put together - he was a man with a plan. All the women in line with him adopted him as a project,  gave him advice and shook their heads. I don't get the sense that men are frequent shoppers at Joann's. In any case, the red and gray paw print blanket is ~ 25% completed and Stew is looking forward to presenting it to Owen when it's ready.

A side note on Pumpkin since she is part of this post. She normally gets low marks for assertiveness since she let Oscar push her around from the first day they met. That being said, she has developed a clear way of communicating her displeasure. There have been several recent occasions where she was less enthusiastic about something; for example, our move and the day we briefly had a dog in the house (long story) and he chased her all over the place barking. She now takes her revenge by howling and scratching outside our bedroom door in the wee hours of the morning and peeing on bathmats. Yes, Pumpkin, we understood that you were not happy....Oy.
