Happy 6th Birthday Matthew!

Matthew is 6! We celebrated by inviting his Kindergarten class to Pump it Up.  In an effort to keep spring loaded 5 and 6 year olds from high energy collisions on the giant slides, we added a pirate theme. This time, they threw nerf "cannon balls" at each other and went on a treasure hunt. The kids had fun and the grownups discussed how great it was not to be having parties like this at our homes.

Matthew is quite grown up now. He has chores, earns money and now has a wallet to store it in. He is starting to read a little on his own and has discovered the rules of English spelling have no internal coherence. I am at a loss to explain to him why it is a good idea to have a silent "k".  He joined a soccer team but did not love it. To the extent he has an interest in sports, it is confined to running and climbing.
