It wouldn't be fall without some kind of race. This year, Kat and I decided to try another sprint triathlon. Four colleagues from work joined us to create an informal Team Adobe. Stewart feels firmly that triathlons are a family affair and so we loaded the boys into the car before dawn and drove to the East Bay. Matthew was fascinated to be out so early in the morning and interrogated us thoroughly about when exactly morning starts, how the reflectors on the road work, why we can't pass the moon, why the moon looks like a banana and where are we going anyway?
It was fun for me to have an adorable cheering section and the boys behaved themselves well. The fact that their mother kept running off and they couldn't go with her caused a certain amount of consternation but Stewart made sure they had positive memories of the experience by plying them with snacks and shaved ice. I arrived at the finish line to find Owen stained blue as he contentedly worked his way through his blue raspberry ice while Matthew begged extra ice from any willing adult. It did turn out to be a fun morning outing for all of us and we are pleased to report all the racers finished in good shape!
