We decided to skip swimming class and go to the beach! The boys had a great time and so did we. It was Owen's first trip to any beach. For those of you in the area, Moss Beach is a 5-10 min drive north from Half Moon Bay off Highway 1. There is a beach area, tide pools to explore, seaweed and the big waves are all well away from the beach.
Northern California beaches are often foggy and COLD! One of the reasons we don't go to the beach much is that it takes a good 45 min to get there and it's odd to think of bundling up to go to the beach. Swimming is not an option without a wet suit. That being said, the scenery is stunning and there are very few people around. Matthew's fashion sense rebelled at being bundled up like the Michelin man. He did consent to wearing a sweater of his choice and consequently looks like something out of a J. Crew Catalog. He is going to be a heart breaker some day.
Owen was content to try out his new walking skills, play in the sand and put things in his mouth. He has good taste and I had to ask him to spit out several lovely shells. He was happy as could be.
It was an altogether successful trip and we look forward to doing it again sometime soon!
