How great is it that this view is a 2 hr drive from where we live? This photo is from Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in Big Sur, as is the photo below. Stewart's parents came to stay with the kids for a week so Stew and I could get away and we had such a great time. We spent 2 days at the Mazda Race Track learning advanced car handling techniques - sliding/autocross etc - this is every bit as fun as it sounds. Then we drove along the coast and stayed in Big Sur for 3 days. Periodically, parts of Highway 1 fall off the cliffs. This year's road problems added a significant amount of driving time but also left these gorgeous areas completely empty. We will definitely start camping this summer so that when the kids are older we will be able to take them to stay in these beautiful places.
